I’ve done many different things in my life, but the constant has been to work hard, take care of people, and do things the right way.
That mindset didn’t come from a textbook. It came from growing up in a family that ran retail stores and spent weekends working ranch land—two very different environments that both taught me how to earn trust, stay consistent, and deliver real value to people.

Our family had six clothing stores, so I grew up around customer service and learned early on how important it is to treat people well, even in those brief interactions. My dad also worked in banking and ranching, which gave me a look into sales, as well as real estate through the ranching side. He and his group would buy land, clean it up, and sell it. He’d bring me and my brothers out to help, and we were the workhorses. We ran chainsaws, cleared brush, cleaned up old oilfield sites, and drove bulldozers—whatever was needed to get the job done. Those early experiences shaped my work ethic, the value I put into building relationships, and what was possible by taking the entrepreneurial route.
Attending UTSA, I studied finance as well as architecture and real estate. Once graduated, I moved to New York City and worked at Bloomingdale’s, eventually running the Giorgio Armani boutique inside the store, handling all the buying for the brand. It was a high-end, high-pressure retail environment, but even there, it came down to service: knowing what people need and delivering it well.
By the early ’90s, I came back to Austin and did a few different things, including playing music, insurance, and eventually, renovating a house with my cousin. When it came time to sell, we hired a REALTOR®. Watching that process closely, I saw something familiar: service, business, strategy, and the chance to build long-term relationships. That was the moment real estate got my attention.

In 2001, I earned my real estate license during a tough market, but I didn’t know any different, so I didn’t let it stop me. I built my business by showing up, hosting open houses, answering phones, and following up with every lead. Most of my early clients came from people I already knew or met face-to-face. It came down to real conversations, consistent follow-through, and earning trust. Even as the market has evolved and technology puts listings and data at everyone’s fingertips, I’ve never lost sight of the human aspects of the process.

Not only was I able to build my own business, but I was able to shape my life around what I value most. I could be involved in Scouts with my son, Carter, and follow my passions in music. I’ve played the drums most of my life and enjoy playing in the recording studio for artists and performing locally. Real estate gave me the space to keep doing what I love while building a business that reflects my values.
I’ve also worked in homebuilding. I didn’t want to just sell homes, I wanted to understand them. I studied architecture, worked hands-on in every phase of construction, and built several houses from the ground up. That experience gave me a deep knowledge of what I’m looking at when I walk into a property with a client. I know when something is a potential concern or when it is quality work. I’ve also run a brokerage, leading a team of 13 agents at one point. But ultimately, I chose to scale back because my passion is working with my clients and being that lifelong resource for them.

Real estate is where my background, values, and experience all come together. It’s not about transactions. It’s about showing up, adding value to the experience, and making sure people feel taken care of. That’s always been the priority, and that’s why I’m still here, doing the work I love and believe in.
When we work together, you’re not just getting a licensed broker. You’re getting someone who’s built homes from the ground up, studied architecture, navigated multiple market shifts, and built a business on repeat clients and referrals. I know how to spot concerns before they become actual problems, how to negotiate a smart deal, and how to keep the process streamlined from start to finish. Most of all, I’m here to look out for your best interest—always.
Whether you're buying or selling, I treat your home like it’s my own. I’ll walk you through what matters, what to avoid, and how to make smart, strategic decisions that will benefit you in the long run because that’s what I’d want someone to do for me.
My business is built on trust and quality work, and I intend to keep it that way. Let’s get to work—together.
Sincerely,

Scott Bettersworth
